Goodbye, Tangled. "Hello, world".

I have some news that I'll just quietly put here and then share more widely when I am ready.

Tangled

My nickname is “Tang”.  I have had it since the ‘90’s.  I am very attached to it.  It's part of my identity.  Some people don't even know my real name, because I was introduced to them as Tang and Tang I have always been to them. There is a story to how I got it.  It's a bit rude so I'm not telling it here - but the beloved friend Jason who gave it to me passed away suddenly, quite recenly.  So this makes it all the more precious to me.

Anyway, waaaay back when I first ended up as a singer sans band (which is another story) and decided that I wanted to keep performing nonetheless, I picked the name “Tangled” randomly, as a play on that nickname.  I didn't know what I was going to do, exactly as a solo artist.  I didn't expect to release music - I don't know what I was expecting.  Definitely wasn't expecting what actually happened.  That's also another story.

But the point of THIS story is that what I didn't think about was the fact that Tangled is copyrighted by Disney.  I also didn't consider the probably more important fact that searching for “Tangled” on any social media platform returns thousands of entries for Disney and DIsney-adjacent content.  It does not return me!

So although I would dearly, dearly love to keep my artist name - especially for Jason - after having a lot of chats about this with people, I am going to go ahead and change the name I use.  Very boringly, I am going to just use my own, actual name - Tanya Aquino.  Why am I using my own name?  And why now?  Well, that will be the subject of a blog post another day :)

OK it's late where I am, and I have a day job to go to so I must away to bed.  Have a lovely day or night whatever time it is you're reading this.  Go forth and be happy.  As someone said to me today and it made my day - I appreciate you.
